Concurrent planning - What do we know and where should that be taking us?

The British Association of Fostering and Adoption is hosting a conference, supported by Coram, entitled ‘Concurrent planning - What do we know and where should that be taking us?’
This conference will challenge local authorities and adoption agencies to consider whether they could adopt greater use of concurrent planning either through a specific project or through creative use of dual approval as foster carers/adopters to give more children the opportunity of achieving permanence through this route.
Amongst the confirmed speakers is Jeanne Kaniuk OBE, Head of Adoption & Permanent Families Service at Coram. Jeanne will speak on setting up a partnership between a voluntary adoption agency and local authority.
When? 5 July 2012 from 10:00am to 4:00pm.

Who should attend? Local authority and Voluntary Adoption Agency social workers, managers and practitioners in adoption and childcare teams, independent reviewing officers, adoption and fostering panel members, CAFCASS children’s guardians and adopters and foster carers.

Coram has been pioneering concurrent planning for more than 10 years, working with local authorities to give children in care greater consistency while a decision is being reached about their long term future.
