Live UR Life: Independent Living Fair
Learn how to rustle up a cheap, healthy meal, get tips and information on setting up home and have the chance to take part in a live rap at Coram's 'Live UR Life' Independent Living Fair on 21 April.
Young people, aged 16-19, are invited to attend this free event, which takes place:
1-3.30pm, Thursday 21 April
Camden Centre
Bidborough Street (opposite St Pancras Station)
WC1H 9AU
Live UR Life will offer information on setting up home, health and well being, education training and employment, friend’s families and relationships, your rights and responsibilities and money.
A group of young people, known as the YES’ Teamwho access services at children's charity Coram, came up with the idea to hold this event and have participated in all the planning with help from staff.
Live UR Life is inspired by 'Life in your Hands', a book written and edited by Catherine Jackson, published in 2011. The book is aimed at 16 -19 year olds who are living independently. This event offers a wide range speakers on the topics covered in the book, such as looking after the environment, relationships and things to do in the area.
A chef will be teaching young people how to cook a cheap meal, there will be a sports challenge and entertainment on the day will be provided by young people and a music collective. There will be a chance for young people to perform on the spot via a rap battle.
Entry is free, and you can simply turn up on the day, but do get there early to take full advantage of the talks, workshops and goodies on offer.
