Award-winning actress Helena Bonham Carter CBE, renowned BBC radio broadcaster James Naughtie and Brit & MOBO nominated girl band, Stooshe joined the Christmas celebrations held by England’s first dedicated children’s charity Coram at St Andrews church in Holborn last night (Dec 1).
Over 200 guests at Coram’s Christmas Celebration, which was hosted by Jim Naughtie enjoyed hearing an excerpt of a poem by Pablo Casals by Helena Bonham Carter, carols by the Trevor-Roberts School Choir and a luxury raffle before rounding off the evening with mince pies and mulled wine.
Dr Carol Homden, CEO of Coram said: “Our Christmas Celebration gets bigger and better every year and it’s a wonderful opportunity for us to thank all of those who have supported the charity throughout the year. We are so grateful to Jim Naughtie for hosting this joyful yet reflective event, as he does every year, were delighted that Helena Bonham Carter was able to attend and gave such a beautiful reading and our young Adoptables Ambassadors were thrilled to meet members of girl band Stooshe.
“Thomas Coram believed that “everyone ought in duty to do any good they can”. We are proud, 275 years later to be continuing his legacy and continuing to reach out and help the country’s most vulnerable children.”
