All-girl string quartet, Bond, broker deals at ICAP for Lord Mayor’s Appeal lead charity Coram
The four sassy pop-classical female performers known as Bond will be helping to close deals with the help of brokers at ICAP’s annual Charity Day on Wednesday 7 December in aid of the Lord Mayor’s Appeal 2011 lead charity Coram.
ICAP Charity Day, launched in 1993 in the heart of the City, has become a key annual event in the global financial markets’ calendar.
During the event, a host of celebrities help ICAP, the world’s largest inter-dealer broker, to give 100% of the firm’s revenues and broker commissions to charity, by closing major deals on ICAP’s trading floor. Last year £12.1 million was raised worldwide, with £5.4 million raised in the London offices.
Bond, the best-selling string quartet of all time will be leaving their instruments behind as they meet brokers and speak to clients on behalf of Coram.
The Lord Mayor’s Appeal 2011 lead charity Coram is among 50 charities which will receive funds from the day.
As the UK’s first children’s charity, Coram has been building better chances for children since it was established as the Foundling Hospital in London in 1739. Coram works with 15,000 children and families every year through its work in adoption, creative therapies and parenting support, providing specialist advice through Coram Children’s Legal Centre and reaching a further 800,000 school children through Coram Life Education with health, drug and alcohol education.

About ICAP’s Charity Day:
ICAP is the world’s premier interdealer broker and provider of post trade risk and information services. Since its creation, ICAP has always given money to charity. In 1993, when the firm had grown to around 100 people in London, it was decided to do something on a larger and more innovative scale; something that would make a significant difference to charities. The idea of ICAP Charity Day was born; a day on which all revenues and commissions are given away to just a few charities, meaning each would receive a large amount of money which would really make a difference to their operations. This gave the firm and its customers a unique way of contributing to society, especially in view of its position in the financial world.
This method of giving is very different from the normal way that companies choose to give to charity by donating money out of their profits. At ICAP, the brokers themselves are giving away their own commissions to charity, as well as the company giving away its revenues. The idea has proved very successful for 18 years. In our offices around the world, we have raised over £76.6 million for charity. It is inspiring to see what a difference ICAP Charity Day makes to so many people around the world. The charities and ICAP are very grateful to our customers and staff whose enthusiastic and generous support makes this possible.
