Alderman Sir Michael Bear has been recognised in the New Year Honours for his services to the City and charitable work.
His 'Bear Necessities' appeal as the Lord Mayor in 2011 gave enormous support to Coram as its main beneficiary, and he was appointed as Vice President in October in recognition of his extraordinary commitment.
Carol Homden, Coram’s Chief Executive said:
“All of us here at Coram would like to congratulate Alderman Sir Michael Bear on his much deserved knighthood.
“Alderman Sir Michael Bear is a longstanding supporter of Coram and, during his recent year as Lord Mayor, gave our charity’s funds and profile a fantastic boost, particularly within the City.
“We are delighted he has been recognised in this way and proud to have his continued support as Vice President of Coram.”
The 'Bear Necessities' Appeal has helped Coram reach out to help a further 10,000 children.
