Coram Statement on Adoption Action Plan
The Government's Action Plan for Adoption was launched on March 14, setting out a range of proposals intended to speed up the process for children and adopters. The plan reports that less children are being adopted into families after being in care, and that the process is bureaucratic and unsatisfactory for adopters.
“We are pleased that plans include the introduction of a new national adoption gateway which will create a first port of call for would-be adopters to get consistent, independent advice regardless of their geographical location.
“Along with careful preparation and support for adopters, this will help offer children from traumatic and complex backgrounds a loving, stable future.”
