Without Coram, few would have heard of Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus.

Fair score of Handel's MessiahThe work was rarely performed before the composer offered to conduct it at a concert to raise funds for the Foundling Hospital.

The resulting series of concerts were the blueprint for Live Aid. Handel conducted the concerts annually for the rest of his life, raising the equivalent of £500,000 for the Foundling Hospital.
