How effective are art and music therapy in supporting vulnerable children and young people?

Coram's systematic review evaluates the existing quantitative evidence base on the impact of art and music therapy with vulnerable children and young people. 

A total of 51 studies are discussed within this report, which discusses the findings in detail as well as highlighting areas of future focus. 

Key Findings

Despite the need for more rigorous investigation, the review identified broadly encouraging results.  

However, it is clear that further work is needed before any meaningful conclusions can be drawn about the impact of art and music therapy with respect to specific contexts or diagnoses.
