Children from black or ethnic minority backgrounds often wait longer than other children before being placed with a permanent adoptive family.......
More than one third of Coram’s adopting families come from a black or minority ethnic background. This means we can place vulnerable children with safe, loving families of similar ethnicities knowing that their sense of identity will be nurtured.
All Coram’s teams are keen to welcome adopters from black and mixed heritage backgrounds.
Coram actively recruits prospective adopters for black and minority ethnic children by:
Raising awareness and understanding about why adopters are needed.
Building trust between members of the community and adoption social workers.
Welcoming and responding promptly to all prospective adopters.
Offering support to adopters whenever they need it.
