Coram Life Education is a high quality, evidence-based programme created by child development experts and delivered by qualified educators in specially-designed mobile classrooms.
Specialist educators work alongside teachers to ensure sessions are effectively tailored to a class’s specific age, curriculum framework and needs.
Our programme
We make every second in the mobile classrooms count, encouraging participation and engagement through positive learning strategies.
Coram Life Education sessions are stimuli-rich and interactive, using puppetry, role play and film clips to capture children’s imaginations and develop critical thinking and risk management skills.
By helping children understand and develop assertive behaviour skills, our sessions support youngsters to make responsible decisions and negotiate healthy peer relationships.
Sessions feature the much-loved puppet, Harold the Giraffe, who helps introduce and explore issues and emotions, music and role play.
Tailor-made BBC films
The Coram Life Education programme also includes a series of age-appropriate films, specially created with the BBC and performed by BAFTA-nominated BBC puppeteers, see Harold and friends Kiki and Derek explore risk and conflict resolution in a ‘real world’ context. The films teach school children about self-esteem, drugs awareness, assertiveness and anti-bullying techniques, positive friendships and healthy lifestyle choices.
Meeting your school's needs
Building on your school's existing PSHE provision, and aligned with the National Healthy Schools Programme, we work with you to develop fun, progressive and interactive activities to enhance the life skills of your pupils.
With the headteacher and PSHE co-ordinator, we assess the children’s prior learning and experience, plan programme delivery and make appropriate provision for pupils with special needs.
There are also professional development opportunities for teachers covering positive teaching and learning strategies, drugs awareness and other PSHE-related issues.
