boys2MEN
boys2MEN is a male specialist engagement service, established in 1998 and exists to meet the needs of boys, young men and fathers considered at risk of social exclusion. We have a reputation for delivering innovative and effective programmes in hard to reach communities.
We provide a range of innovative programmes to help young males realize their full potential and successfully make the transition from childhood to adolescence and adulthood. Work is predominately with those from disadvantaged or black ethnic backgrounds.
Our expertise includes:
- Work with young fathers/parents.
- Crime prevention.
- Extended schools support.
- Developing and promoting male engagement and father services.
- Developing youth and community services, work and 1:1 work.
boys2MEN is run by a diverse group of males who do not rely on theory alone, but on a combination of theory, life experience and work experience to be able to address the issues fathers, boys and young men are faced with.
We aim to:
- Increase the quality of time non-resident fathers spend with their children.
- Help services that already provide child and family services to be more male inclusive in approach and practice.
- Improve the educational and behavioral outcomes for the children referred.
- Demonstrate the emotional and educational benefits to children when contact is maintained with non-resident or uninvolved fathers.
“I came here for a second chance and I got it.” - Charles 17.
“I always thought being a man meant being strong and not showing emotion- but at boys2MEN I can cry, speak to my mentor when I have a problem, and be a boy...” - Tony 13
