supported accommodation
Coram Supported Housing Service provides supported semi-independent accommodation throughout London for young people aged 16-21 years old. The houses are more than just a place to stay. Support workers provide weekly one-to-one sessions to help young people develop their practical skills and find the resources to achieve self-awareness, self-worth and social responsibility.
An integral part of the service is helping young people into jobs and/or education, specifically via our life and social skills programme. Young people are enabled to understand more about themselves, their needs and abilities and learn to manage their behaviour and understand the responsibilities that accompany their transition to independence. The length of placements can range from six months to two years depending on individual need and age.
We have seven houses in NW1, NW6, NW10, N4 and E3. The service will take referrals from social services and housing departments of young people who are identified as being vulnerable and at risk. This may include being on a full Care Order and/or looked after by a Local Authority, or homeless youths. The service does not accept referrals of young people with a history of arson, considerable violence, serious sexual offences, dependence on alcohol or drugs or serious mental health problems.
