life and social skills
The demands on vulnerable young people who do not live with their family to be emotionally and socially prepared for living on their own are often greater than their peers. We understand the barriers they can face in gaining the knowledge, skills they need and, through the Life & Social Skills Programme, work with them to facilitate their learning.
The programme is accredited by AQA (Assessment & Qualifications Alliance) as part of their Unit Award Scheme and is delivered through one-to-one or small group sessions. Evidenced through observation, practical tasks and discussions, the programme offers clear, short term achievable outcomes which can be tailored to individual learning styles and needs.
Young people have the opportunity to gain practical skills and knowledge across a broad range of subjects including:

- Education & Employment
- Identity
- Family & Social Relationships
- Emotional & Behavioural Development
- Self-Care Skills: Practical Skills
- Self-Care Skills: Social Presentation
- Self-Care Skills: Finance
- Setting Up Home Skills
On completion, evidence for each unit is submitted to AQA for assessment and certificates are awarded. A newsletter is also produced each month and sent to all service users to give updates about achievements, and topical information.
