music therapy
For children with a range of difficulties or who have experienced the trauma of abuse or family breakdown, music can provide a creative means of expressing what words cannot. Music therapy gives vulnerable children the chance to express themselves within the safety of a trusting relationship.
- Children engage in musical interaction with the music therapies using their voices, the piano and a variety of percussion instruments.
- Children (under 11 years) can attend music therapy individually, with their parents or in small groups depending on their needs.
- Coram’s music therapist works closely with parents and related professionals to maximize the benefits of music therapy.
- Music therapy can increase children’s self-esteem, confidence, communication, concentration and social interaction skills.
