Parents' Centre
Coram Parents' Centre is a model for providing community-based training in parenting and other skills for families in the Kings Cross area of London, many of whom are socially isolated and unfamiliar with mainstream services. The Parents' Centre offers a range of high quality health, education, advice and support services for local families in an open-access community setting. The aim is to support parents in their parenting role, encourage understanding and involvement in their children's learning and development and help parents acquire the confidence and skills necessary to seek employment. In addition, the Centre provides high quality childcare so parents can participate in training and seek employment.
Specialist services includes work with teenage parents, parents’ groups for Bangladeshi and Somali families, Music Therapy and practitioner training. The Parents' Centre operates in partnership with the Thomas Coram nursery to form the Thomas Coram Children's Centre, one of the Government's Children's Centres providing integrated education, care, family support and health services. The Parents' Centre also works closely with Sure Start Kings Cross and Holborn.
