Listening to children

The perspectives of children in care and those involved in court proceedings perspectives are often not heard as they should be in key decisions concerning them, making them feel ignored, and leading to their remaining in situations of risk.

Boy in corner of a room with his head in his armsIn 2010, Coram worked to address this through advocacy to the Government during the Munro social work and Family Justice Review processes, and a seminar was run for experts and young people aimed at improving the way the family justice system hears children’s perspectives.

Publications resulting from our work around listening to children include:

Listening to Young Children second edition (OUP, 2010)

Life in Your Hands Second Edition (2010)
