Coram-i look at latest adoption data ahead of National Adoption Week

Coinciding with the beginning of National Adoption Week, Kevin Yong of Coram-i has written a blog for LocalGov highlighting the latest data of the adoption system, and explaining what it means for the children waiting to be adopted. The figures were analysed over a four year period, and raises the concern as to whether the benefits of the Government’s investment into adoption reform are now being lost.

Amongst the figures is a worryingly sharp decline in adopters we are currently seeing, with far fewer adopters being available than children who need families. This ultimately means that children are waiting longer to be adopted, leaving a negative impact. National Adoption Week highlights the importance of these children finding permanent, loving homes and encourages more people to consider adoption.
