Coram Life Education invites teachers to share views on integration to shape new teaching resources

Coram Life Education, the UK’s leading provider of high quality Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education, is calling for teachers to share their views on the issues and challenges around integration within schools, to inform its new teaching resources launching later this year.
Coram Life Education, which is part of the Coram Group of children’s charities, is undertaking a national survey to create a picture of what schools need in contemporary Britain. This feedback will help to shape its new teaching resources which aim to increase understanding of the experiences of migrant children and young people, and improve integration and inclusion in schools.
The resources will be co-produced with Young Citizens, Coram’s new ambassador programme for young people from migrant and refugee backgrounds. Launching in September 2017, the resources will target key stages 2 and 3 (ages 9-13) and support British Values and Citizenship requirements in the curriculum.
Harriet Gill, Managing Director of Education and Wellbeing at Coram said: “In the wake of Brexit and concerns about divisions within an increasingly multi-cultural society, we need to examine the role of schools in creating a more cohesive, integrated Britain, and in increasing understanding of the experiences of migrant children and young people.
“That’s why we are launching our new resources, and schools’ views are vital in helping us to ensure they make a real difference to students. We welcome all schools to take part in our survey – whether or not they have any students from migrant or refugee backgrounds, and greatly appreciate their time in sharing their views with us.”
Coram Life Education’s survey is open until 5pm on Monday 29 May 2017. The new resources will be made available on the Coram Life Education website alongside the charity’s other schools resources from September 2017.
