Discover our advice and training for professionals this Refugee Week
Published: Friday 15th June 2018
Throughout Refugee Week (18-24 June), we are raising awareness of how we work with children and young people from migrant and refugee backgrounds, and the professionals who support them, to understand their rights and entitlements.
Our Migrant Children's Project (MC) promotes the rights of refugee and migrant children, young people and families, striving to ensure that they recieve the protection and support they need.
In the last financial year the project supported 1,150 children and young people through its advice line and a further 1,271 through its outreach advice scheme, as well as supporting 44,000 web users with its online legal resources.
MCP has published over 30 factsheets on legal issues affecting young refugee and migrants, and publications for professionals include ‘Seeking Support’, a comprehensive guide on how to support separated children and navigate the complex systems they face.
MCP also runs regular training courses for service-providers in the statutory and voluntary sectors, and all those working with or supporting children, young people and families.
Upcoming courses include:
- The rights and entitlements of young refugees and migrants (26 June)
- An introduction to the rights of children and young people in the immigration system (25 July)
- Access to education for migrant children (17 September)
Some of our courses are designed and co-delivered by our Youth Rights Trainers, highly skilled young people with experience of the UK immigration and asylum systems.
