Celebrities Peter Capaldi and Richard E Grant are among those pledging their support for Coram to stand up for today's invisible children - and we want you to join them.
Today we are marking Coram’s 275th anniversary year with the launch of our charity's first online supporter pledge campaign to stand up for today’s ‘invisible’ children, just as our founder Thomas Coram did 275 years ago.
In 1739, babies were abandoned on the streets of London, ignored by everyone, except one man: Thomas Coram.
He set up the Foundling Hospital and gave thousands of babies and young children a better start in life.
Today, Coram continues to fight for vulnerable children and young people, as our work across the Coram charity group reflects.
But too many children are still isolated, neglected or lack a safe place to call home.
That’s why, for our 275th anniversary, we’ve launched our campaign to stand up for today’s ‘invisible’ children, so that more people can get to hear about our work and help us continue to make a change for children and young people that lasts a lifetime.
We need your help to spread the word by adding your name to the Coram pledge wall today and by encouraging your contacts, family and friends to do the same.
So please visit our pledge wall today - it only takes a minute to add your name - and a photo and short comment if you wish.
Once you’ve joined us, please spread the word by sending on an email to all your contacts, and sharing on Facebook and Twitter, so that many more people do the same.
While you are there, you can find out why Peter Capaldi and Richard E Grant are lending their support to our campaign, and read some of the moving accounts from some of the families and young people Coram helps.
Dr Carol Homden CBE, Coram's Chief Executive, said: "Thomas Coram was an inspirational man and, just as he did 275 years ago, we hope you will be inspired to stand up for today's invisible children, so that together we can help make the world a better place for children and young people. Please add your name to Coram's pledge wall today."
