Resignation of education recovery commissioner

Coram CEO Dr Carol Homden has today reacted to the resignation last night of Sir Kevan Collins as the government's education recovery commissioner.
Dr Homden said: "With the resignation of Sir Kevan Collins as education recovery commissioner the sector has lost a hugely respected champion for children's rights at a critical time.
"There is a huge gap between what he and others across the children's sector are calling for to enable a children-led recovery post-Covid and the funding package the government has announced. On a pupil-by-pupil basis it falls well short of addressing the needs that Coram - along with all those who work with children and young people - has identified over the course of the pandemic.
"Charities, teachers, and think tanks all echo the education recovery commissioner's view that what the government is offering has fallen short. I urge ministers to look again and make good on their repeated commitment to put children first."
