Our summer appeal

Help us give children the futures they deserve

The Covid-19 pandemic has greatly affected us all and for many children, it will have far-reaching consequences for their education, mental health and future employment. To address the continuing crisis we need your help now more than ever.

We must act now to ensure children can get the help they need.

Coram’s work is vital in the fight against the long-term impact of the pandemic on children. As a group of charities working together, we aim to counteract the impact of the pandemic on children’s education and wellbeing.

Coram Beanstalk’s volunteers run one-to-one sessions with children who struggle with reading. These sessions can be life-changing, teaching vital skills as well as instilling confidence and helping children re-engage with learning. An extraordinary 97% of schools said our pupils’ enjoyment of reading was increased thanks to their reading helpers.

Coram Life Education’s highly effective whole-school approach to life skills and wellbeing makes them a leading provider of relationships, health and wellbeing education with 98% of schools being very satisfied or satisfied with our work.

Coram Shakespeare Schools Foundation enables young people to find their voice and develop the skills they need for life through drama with performance in the national festival giving them something to be proud of for life.

Despite the valiant efforts of teachers and parents during this difficult time, an extra 90,000 children will be unable to adequately read or write by the time they start secondary school*

We stand ready and prepared to help tackle this tide of need with additional online teaching resources and back to school kits, a year-round programme of workshops and reading volunteers able to give crucial one to one support. It is vital, that we expand our work now to be able to reach children in need and get their futures back on track.

It is only with your support that Coram can expand the provision of Coram Beanstalk volunteers, Life Education programmes and Shakespeare workshops to help more children build the foundations of reading, self-confidence and resilience, for a happy and successful future.

Will you join us in bringing love and opportunity to children’s lives by protecting their wellbeing and transforming their futures?
