About our free event

Join us for our annual Charter Patron Reception on Wednesday 14 October, from 6.30 to 8.30pm, at the Foundling Museum in London. This special evening is an opportunity to thank our Charter Patrons for their continued support and celebrate the life-changing impact they make for children and young people.

As we mark 100 years since the first adoption legislation in England and Wales, you’ll hear from an adoptive family about their journey through Coram and why they chose to become Charter Patrons. One of Coram’s adoption specialists will also share insights into the adoption process and the vital lifelong support adoptive families receive. Guests will have the opportunity to explore the Foundling Museum and discover Coram’s rich history as the UK’s first and longest continuing children’s charity, while enjoying an inspiring evening with our Charter Patrons.

This event is open to current Charter Patrons and those who are interested in joining. Extra guests are very welcome, so please do bring along friends, family, or colleagues who may be interested in the Charter Patron programme.

At the event, you will:

  • Learn about Coram’s long history through the Foundling Museum’s objects, stories and spaces.
  • Hear from Coram’s CEO, Dame Carol Homden DBE, about the situation for children today and how, together, we can create better chances for them.
  • Enjoy a glass of wine surrounded by historic art. Many of the artists featured were made Governors of the Foundling Hospital and went on to help set up the Royal Academy.

Coram champions children’s rights and wellbeing, making lives better through legal support, advocacy, adoption, and a range of therapeutic, educational and cultural programmes.

Our Charter Patrons help us to achieve our mission of creating better chances for children, now and forever.
