The Research, Impact, and Evaluation team at Coram is conducting a Pilot Randomised Controlled Trial of restorative justice delivered in youth justice settings, funded by the Youth Endowment Fund (YEF).
Working across 10 Youth Justice Services and in collaboration with RJ4ALL, the study will assess the feasibility, implementation and potential impact of a restorative justice offer for children and young people aged 10–17 who have caused harm, and those individuals affected. The trial responds to longstanding gaps in the evidence base for youth restorative justice by piloting a randomised design with extensive process evaluation to move forwards our understanding of how restorative justice works, for whom, and under what circumstances. Through this work, Coram aims to strengthen the evidence available to policymakers and practitioners and support the development of more effective, child-centred and restorative responses to harm.
