OECS Regional Child Policy and Strategic Plan

Commissioned by the UNICEF Office for the Eastern Caribbean Area in 2025, Coram International supported the OECS in revising its Regional Child Policy and Strategic Plan.

Coram International was pleased to support the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) in developing the region’s Child Policy. As consultants to the UNICEF Office for the Eastern Caribbean Area, Coram International supported the OECS to undertake research across the region on key child rights issues, and subsequently to draft and consult on the policy. The policy aims to ensure that every child feels valued, safe, supported, loved and empowered, and is able to enjoy the full range of rights enshrined in the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), regardless of status.

The consultancy included in-person primary data collection with children, parents and caregivers, professionals, and practitioners in Grenada, Montserrat and Saint Lucia; remote interviews with key informants across the region; and the dissemination of an online U-Report survey among children.

The policy covers children’s rights across education, health, child protection, access to justice, and social protection. It also integrates cross-cutting issues relating to public financing for children, equity and inclusion, child rights monitoring, child participation, disaster risk reduction and recovery, and climate adaptation.
