How can you help a child who feels invisible?

  • 23 May 2021

Aged just three, Ben had spent most of his life in care.

His mother’s struggle with alcohol and drug addiction meant she couldn’t look after him, and Ben was taken into care when he was only a few days old.

But more than three years later, he was still waiting for a family of his own. Unnoticed, ignored, seemingly invisible.

Fortunately, Coram found a loving adoptive family for Ben, who are able to give him the support, love and attention he needs.

They found Julie and Sam, his new parents, and prepared them for the challenges of adopting. Now, Ben has finally found the security and love he needs. Julie explains:

“Ben has made a really positive transition. He has always related well to animals – we live in the countryside and he loves walking our dogs and playing outdoors, and gets on really well with his new sister. I truly believe that we were meant to find him and give him the home that he loves and where he is happy today.

“The thing that is so reassuring is we know that at any point we can contact Coram and, should we ever need it, they will support us and support our little boy in the future.”

Could you adopt?

If you believe you can offer a child the time, love and commitment they require to grow up feeling safe and happy, we would love to hear from you.
