Coram Adoption East Midlands has been commended for its high quality direct work with adopted children and young people, its extensive support services provided to adoptive families at all stages of the process, its successful partnership working, and its robust safeguarding practices.
Ofsted reported that the agency’s excellent practice has significantly improved the life chances of children and young people, especially those who are “deemed ‘harder to place’ because of their age, ethnicity, significant health needs or because they required a family who could care for brothers and sisters together.”
Coram Adoption East Midlands is one of three dedicated adoption branches run by Coram, which together make up one of the largest independent adoption services in the UK. Coram has specialised in adoption for over 40 years, with one of the highest placement success rates in the country, and is renowned for providing lifelong support for adoptive families. Coram Adoption East Midlands welcomes applications from prospective adopters who live within one hour’s travelling distance of its offices in Shepshed, Leicestershire.
Jeanne Kaniuk, OBE, Managing Director of Coram’s Adoption Services said: “We are dedicated to putting the needs of vulnerable children and adoptive parents at the forefront of everything we do, and are very proud that our passion, professionalism and commitment has been recognised in this way.
“We will continue to offer an outstanding service to all children in need of safe and secure homes and to all prospective adopters wishing to provide them. We hope that this assessment will encourage those considering adoption in the East Midlands to get in touch with our team.”
Ofsted judged Coram Adoption East Midlands as ‘Outstanding’ across all categories including overall effectiveness, experiences and progress of, and outcomes for children and young people, quality of service, safeguarding children and young people, and leadership and management.
