The charity Leap Confronting Conflict, the UK’s specialist youth charity dedicated to transforming how young people and the adults who support them manage conflict, is joining the Coram Group with effect from 1 August 2025.
Now known as Coram Leap Confronting Conflict, the organisation is dedicated to ensuring that all young people are equipped with the skills to manage conflict in their own lives, help reduce violence in their communities, and become leaders of change.
Coram Leap has nearly 40 years’ experience of delivering outcomes in schools, communities and the secure estate working with young people to become role models in their communities and will benefit from Coram’s extensive networks and infrastructure to expand its programmes with young people at increased risk of harmful conflict and violence.
With other Group members it will work towards systemic change by providing specialist resources, tools and training in conflict navigation to schools, communities, and to all those supporting, and providing services to young people. Coram Leap will also work with Coram Life Education in its work developing Personal, Social, Health and Economic education resources for schools.
Dr Carol Homden CBE, Chief Executive of Coram, said: “Coram works from infancy to independence to enable children and young people to develop the skills they need for life – at home, at school and in their communities and the work of Coram Leap Confronting Conflict has never been more needed to confront conflict and enable them to build a society that cares.”
Jo Broadwood, Managing Director of Coram Leap, said: “All young people will face times of conflict, and we know that – with the opportunity to build the skills they need – they can develop the skills and confidence they need to navigate challenges successfully and become the young leaders their communities need. Being part of the Coram Group will enable us together to reach many more young people and realise our Pledge to the next generation.”
About Coram Leap Confronting Conflict
Coram Leap Confronting Conflict is a national youth charity that provides life-changing conflict navigation training to young people and the adults who support them.
Our trauma-informed curriculum helps young people understand their triggers and learn to regulate their emotions in high-conflict situations. It empowers them to make positive choices, set long-term goals, and build the emotional resilience needed to achieve them.
Since 1987, our approach has been tried-and-tested in schools, communities, and the secure estate across the UK. Independent evaluations of our work have consistently demonstrated the impact of our work: young people more able to manage their emotions, build stronger relationships, and leading change to reduce violence and harmful conflict in their lives and communities.
Our work is trauma-informed and based on evidence of what works to bring about lasting durable change for young people. Rooted in theories and frameworks for understanding conflict and centring youth voice it addresses the many forms conflict can take – from peer pressure and family tensions to struggles with authority, online harms, to challenges around identity and mental health.
