Children and Armed Conflict: A Guide to International Humanitarian and Human Rights Law

Published by the International Bureau for Children's Rights in 2003 and updated in 2010, this guide aims to document the policy and legal framework around children in armed conflict in order to maximise information sharing in the goal of child protection.

This guide, based on a training sessioned organised by the International Bureau for Children’s Rights for the members of the International Tribunal for Children’s Rights in 2001 in Sarajevo, was written by Rachel Harvey of the Children and Armed Conflict Unit, a joint project of the Children’s Legal Centre (which became Coram Children’s Legal Centre) and the Human Rights Centre at the University of Essex. The guide was produced for communities of practice working on children and armed conflict and aims to provide a comprehensive overview of international and human rights law.
