How we influence practice and policy
Coram creates better chances for vulnerable children by promoting best practice and influencing national policy.
Our work to develop and promote best practice includes piloting new approaches and pioneering new projects in support of vulnerable children. We help improve outcomes for children and young people in care by supporting the agencies and professionals who work with them and are a part of the Children’s Inter-Agency Group that helps shape children’s services.
We strive to keep issues affecting children and young people, including adoption, children’s rights and representation, at the top of the political agenda and in the public eye and seek to influence policy-makers to ensure that children’s best interests are represented in policy reform, for example through responses on key elements of the 2013 Children and Families Bill.
We are among expert organisations working with government around policy affecting children and young people. We are a strategic partner of the Department for Education (DfE) and were involved in the development of the Government’s National Adoption Action Plan aimed at speeding up adoption. We are also a part of the National Adoption Implementation Group and National Adoption Recruitment Forum.
