Coram Leap Confronting Conflict
At Coram Leap Confronting Conflict, we turn harmful conflict into an opportunity for growth and development. We equip young people and the adults who support them with life-changing tools so they can handle conflict in their own lives, reduce violence in their communities, and become leaders of change.
Coram Leap Confronting Conflict is a national youth charity that provides life-changing conflict navigation training to young people and the adults who support them.
Our trauma-informed curriculum helps young people understand their triggers and learn to regulate their emotions in high-conflict situations. It empowers them to make positive choices, set long-term goals, and build the emotional resilience needed to achieve them.
Our targeted and experiential small group work programmes and individual support enables them to become less vulnerable to harmful influences, better able to say no, and less likely to engage in behaviours that harm themselves or others. They learn to distinguish facts from disinformation, resist peer and online pressure, and chart a positive path forward.
We know that for young people to thrive they need trusted and skilled adults to support them. Through our training programmes for professionals and our place-based work we surround young people with skilled, relatable adults and role models who believe in them – and help them believe in themselves.
Through leadership development opportunities, young people are empowered to make meaningful contributions to their schools, peer groups, families, and communities. The critical skills they gain help prevent harmful conflict and violence, fostering safer, more cohesive and thriving communities.

Our Impact
In 2024, we supported 1,780 young people and 709 adult professionals
In 2024, 91% of adults felt they had a better understanding of their conflict triggers after attending our conflict navigation training
In 2024, 81% of young people felt more confident in making better decisions during conflict situations after attending our conflict navigation training
Since 1987, our approach has been tried-and-tested in schools, communities, and the secure estate across the UK. Independent evaluations of our work have consistently demonstrated the impact of our work: young people more able to manage their emotions, build stronger relationships, and leading change to reduce violence and harmful conflict in their lives and communities.
Our work is trauma-informed and based on evidence of what works to bring about lasting durable change for young people. Rooted in theories and frameworks for understanding conflict and centring youth voice it addresses the many forms conflict can take – from peer pressure and family tensions to struggles with authority, online harms, to challenges around identity and mental health.
Our delivery team are highly skilled professionals with many years of experience. Many are themselves graduates of Leap’s youth programmes and have lived experience of many of the life situations and challenges of our young people.
Our approach champions systems that listen instead of label, placing young people at the centre of our work because their lived experiences are essential to driving lasting change.
