New research published today by Coram demonstrates the enormous potential of data visualisation to improve decision-making and performance in children’s social care.
In 2018, Coram teamed up with The Alan Turing Institute – the UK’s national institute for data science and artificial intelligence – and Kent County Council to produce a data visualisation prototype that mapped how children move through different pathways when they come into contact with social services.
The project, funded by the Nuffield Foundation and developed in partnership with the Universities of Bristol, Lancaster, Oxford and UCL, uses data visualisation techniques to present an animated picture of complex data helping senior managers to make better decisions, both operationally and strategically.The tool brings the patterns in data to life, enabling insights that would not have otherwise been so easily possible.
