School Exclusions Campaign Ambassadors application

If you’re aged 16 to 25 and have experienced school exclusions, we want to empower you to speak up and influence change (this includes permanent exclusions, suspensions, forced school changes, and unfair isolation room punishments).

 

Let’s work together to make a difference!

What you’ll do:

  • Create digital content for an online hub to inform and empower other young people and improve practices in schools and local councils
  • Create and run workshops for other young people to inform them of their rights
  • Create and run workshops for professionals to improve practice
  • Develop campaigns to change policy and the working practices of professionals
  • Share your views with government, social services and others to create change
  • Work with the media to change public perception

 

What you’ll get:

  • Take part in a free training programme to get skills and knowledge of:
    – Young people’s rights around school exclusion
    – Campaigning and making change
    – Engaging with the media
    – Workshop design and facilitation skills
  • Take part in paid opportunities paid London Living Wage (currently £13.85 an hour) including creating digital content and influencing local and national policy
  • Food and travel costs covered
  • Support with your career goals and aspirations
  • Be part of a group of like-minded people who want to make a difference for others

The commitment:

  • Weekly sessions on Wednesdays evenings
  • There will be opportunities to take part in creating media content, engaging with the media and consulting with local and national policy – we will send you dates as and when these are taking place
